Opportunity: Co-Design Workshops for post-secondary students (aged 18-24 years) who are currently providing care to someone living with dementia in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area

WHO WE ARE: Our research team, Caring4Carers, is a group of Master’s students in the Translational Research Program (@trp.uoft) at the University of Toronto (@uoft), and we are back for the final stage of our research project!

WHAT: We are still recruiting post-secondary students (aged 18-24 years) who are currently providing care or have provided care in the past 12 months to someone living with dementia in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). For our final project phase, we are asking these individuals to attend and contribute to a series of co-design workshops! The goal of this workshop series is to co-create an intervention to improve social connection for young caregivers. Within these workshops, participants will be able to draw on their personal experiences, and creative ideas to try and address this healthcare problem!

Each workshop will be approximately 1.5-2 hours long in duration. Co-Design Workshop members will be provided with an appreciation of $20, plus compensation for applicable transit and/or parking fees, for EACH workshop attended.

WHEN: This series of Co-Design Workshops will take place throughout the month of May – June 2023.

WHERE: The virtual platform and/or in-person location of the workshops will be collectively decided upon by the Workshop members and project team.

WHY: By participating in this series of Co-Design Workshops, you will have the chance to co-create an intervention that supports young caregivers of people living with dementia. Here you can share your experiences and ideas in a meaningful way, with the goal of addressing this healthcare challenge.

If you are interested in learning more about or contributing to this project in any way, please contact our team at: caring4carers.trp@utoronto.ca. Let’s all work together to make a positive impact for young caregivers and the dementia community!

Thank you so much!
