An opportunity to participate in research from Toronto Metro University
Approximately one-in-four Canadians provide ongoing unpaid care to a loved one with long-term health problems. For years, the focus of research and allocation of resources has focused on the care-recipient. However, in the last decade or so, there has been a growing awareness of the potential for caregiver burden among family cares. Despite increasing research focus on the caregiver and their wellbeing, there is limited research available on a growing caregiver category, “youth” or “young caregivers” (ages 16-25). In order to develop policy and resources that target young caregivers, we are conducting interviews to understand factors of resilience and vulnerability that either facilitate or hinder development and wellbeing. Although surveys are important to establish relationships between variables, the voice of the caregiver may be lost. As such, we are interested in learning about your experience, in your own words. If you are interested in sharing your experience as a young caregiver, please contact us at ycs@torontomu.ca.
