Grounded in Care and Community: A Summit to Amplify the Rights and Stories of Young People Supporting a Parent with Mental Health & Substance Use Challenges

Hello friends, peers, and community,

This National Child Day, we’d love for you to join Starlings Community and the Young Caregiver Council of Canada for a special virtual event:

Grounded in Care and Community: A Summit to Amplify the Rights and Stories of Young People Supporting a Parent with Mental Health & Substance Use Challenges

Our goal is to create a national space grounded in lived experience, where young people and young adults (ages 14–30) supporting parents with mental health and/or substance use challenges can listen to speakers share their stories, connect with allies, and co-create ways to stand up for our rights, build connections, and make change in our communities.

This event is a chance to:

  • Connect with other young people and allies who get it
  • Learn about resources, supports, and your rights
  • Feel inspired by stories of resilience, hope, and action
  • Celebrate that you matter, your story matters, and your future matters
  • Win prizes and take part in interactive sessions!

Date: Friday November 21, 2025
Time: 6:30–9:30 p.m. EST | 4:30–7:30 p.m. MST | 3:30–6:30 p.m. PST
Where: Online

View our poster or website to register: https://www.starlings.ca/national-child-day-2025.

This event is about reminding young people of their strength and making sure they know they’re not alone. Together, we’ll imagine and build the future we all deserve.

We can’t wait to see you there!

With care,
Starlings Community & Young Caregiver Council of Canada
