There are a variety of things communities and organizations that work with youth can do to help young caregivers feel more supported and less alone.
- Offer after-hours support, including weekends and evenings
- Provide online support for convenience and privacy
- Create on-call support options for emergencies
- Post information about local crisis lines and provide resources to young carers about what to do in emergency or crisis situations
- Provide a safe and comfortable space where young caregivers can share their experiences and feelings
- Create programs and/or recreation opportunities, so they have a place to be themselves, have fun, and relax
- Create fundraising and public awareness activities and events that support young careers and provide them with opportunities to connect
